About Lip Augmentation
Our lips and mouth accentuate our natural beauty and often draw the attention of those around us. If you are displeased with the appearance of your lips, whether they are thin, flat, small, sagging or aging, our skilled plastic surgeon Dr. Phi Nguyen may recommend a lip augmentation. This cosmetic procedure can typically succeed in increasing the volume of your lips, thus providing a fuller, smoother, more youthful appearance. At our Houston, TX facility MIA Plastic Surgery, we provide a number of procedures proven successful in improving or restoring the overall natural aesthetic of the lips.
Lip augmentation is a common cosmetic procedure which can quickly and efficiently help improve your overall facial appearance. During a consultation with Dr. Phi and the MIA Plastic Surgery staff, your overall health and aesthetic goals will be assessed to determine if you are indeed a candidate for this procedure. Ideal candidates for lip augmentation include those who are:
- Interested in minimally invasive cosmetic improvements
- Comfortable with the use of local anesthesia
- Prepared to experience mild discomfort
- Aware that their recovery will be swift
- Excited about the possibility of seeing immediate results
We currently employ three techniques for lip augmentation. These techniques include:
Fat Transfer – This technique utilizes fat harvested from another site on your body transferred via injection into your lips. Fat transfer is a great choice for augmentation because it is highly customizable with a low risk of rejection.
Fillers – We carry the injectable fillers Allergan and Galderma for patients who would like a minimally invasive and less permanent lip augmentation procedure. These fillers are great for quick and short-term results.
Implants – Our practice also performs a lip procedure which includes the surgical insertion of a lip implant, for lasting, aesthetically pleasing results. This procedure is associated with long-term success.
What to Expect
Your expectations post procedure depend on the type of procedure that was performed. Following lip augmentation via dermal filler, you may notice some redness, bruising, swelling, and possible discomfort. These side effects are normal. If you feel that your discomfort or swelling increases during the healing process, or you are concerned, do not hesitate to give our staff a call. Surgical lip augmentations may accompany more discomfort and swelling — this is also a normal occurrence. Regardless of the procedure performed, you can expect to notice almost immediate results following your lip augmentation.
